Corner TV Shelf

If you are short of space and do not know where you are going to put your television in your room, a corner TV shelf is probably the best answer for you. Corner shelves are great for smaller TVs as they fit snugly into the corner and are still visible to the whole room. The advantage of being so high up and out of the way is that there is no need to take up valuable floor space to make somewhere to put the television and it will not get damaged or dirty by being where lots of people, children and animals can get to it.

When deciding which corner to put your television in, remember to take into account the décor in the rest of the room. It is best to put the television up where there is no seating underneath it, as whoever is sat on that chair will not be able to see the television. Also, you will not be able to put the television above any tall bookcases or cabinets as the television will be too high and people will have to crane their necks to watch it. Perhaps the most important consideration is whether or not there is a power point nearby to plug the TV in. If you put up a shelf before considering this, you will be disappointed to find that you cannot have your television on your shelf anyway.

It is possible to buy a corner mount for your television with hanging shelves for other electrical equipment relating to your TV. Some people prefer a mount as it means you cannot see the shelf below it and it gives for a more cinematic feel. The hanging shelves make it easier to keep all your television equipment together and shorten the amount of wire that needs to be trailing between them all.

The corner shelf is perhaps most useful in a child’s bedroom. Most children have so many toys in their room that there is no room to put the TV anywhere but on the wall anyway. Up on the wall the TV is safe from flying toys and clumsy children. Children also tend to have the smaller bedrooms of the house and a smaller TV than the one you would have in the main sitting room. So a corner shelf would fit snugly in the child’s room and comfortably house a small television. A television placed in the centre of a room also tends to have more prominence than one placed in the corner and since our children are watching too much TV these days and not getting outside enough, a less prominent TV would be better for them.

It is possible to get a colourful television for your child that comes as a complete TV and DVD player in one. This eliminates the need for more than one shelf and multiple components. Combining a colourful TV with a fun children’s corner TV shelf will make for a very animated child’s room.
