Wall Mount TV Shelf
There are many ways to hang your television on the wall and one
of these is by using a wall mount TV shelf. This is a popular way of hanging televisions as they are easy to
install and save a lot of space.
Installing a wall shelf for your television also keeps it safe
from children and pets. Many a television has been sent to the scrap yard because an over-enthusiastic child has
accidently pushed it off a table. And children also have a habit of covering televisions with fingerprints and
grime. Up on the wall the television is out of the way.
When installing a wall mount television unit, you should check
what kind of walls you have. Some flimsy walls will not be able to withstand the weight from the shelf, let alone
the shelf with a television on top of it! You do not want to spend time and money putting your TV on the wall only
to be left with a big hole in your wall and a smashed TV. However, if you choose an exterior wall or a
supporting wall to put your TV on it should be fine.
Today’s televisions are much bigger than ten years ago.
Widescreens are now cheap enough for most families to afford and many come with high definition or plasma screens
as standard. For this reason, people like to make their TV the main attraction in their front room. They want
people to notice how large their television is and so putting it on a shelf in the centre of the wall makes it
pretty difficult to miss.
Lots of TV shelving systems come with two or more shelves so
you can place your DVD player or cable box underneath the television. If you do not have anywhere else to put these
items, this is the perfect solution and only costs a little bit more than one shelf. If you do not have anything to
put on these shelves, you might consider buying a computer game console or something similar in the near future and
the shelves would be ready and waiting.
When purchasing a shelf for your TV, remember to consider the
weight of your television. Most shelves that are specifically made for televisions will say on the box the maximum
weight or size of TV that they can hold. Do not just guess this figure as you will end up with your prized
television on the floor in pieces when the shelf it is sat on collapses underneath its weight.
The wall mount TV shelf is only slightly different to the wall
mount TV bracket, and many people prefer a bracket to a shelf as it makes for a more cinematic feel. However, the
shelf is still popular, particularly for smaller televisions. This is because the bracket that attaches to the wall
is bigger, making for a more secure fit to the wall. Also, shelves are universally made for most televisions, but
the brackets are usually a precise fit for a small range of televisions.
